Why Rest Feels Wrong When You've Been in Survival Mode
Some people struggle to rest because they're busy.
Others struggle to rest because their nervous system doesn't trust it.
There's a difference.
When you've spent years solving problems, putting out fires, carrying everyone else, or simply surviving whatever life threw at you, rest can feel uncomfortable.
Not relaxing.
Uncomfortable.
You finally sit down and suddenly remember seventeen things you should be doing.
The house.
The bills.
The laundry.
That awkward conversation from 2019.
Anything except resting.
The strange thing about survival mode is that it teaches you movement equals safety.
So when life finally gets quieter, your brain doesn't always know what to do with it.
Sometimes healing isn't learning how to keep going.
Sometimes it's learning how to stop.
